An opening reception will be held at Roots Brewery and Bistro for artist Christine Alexander.
The event will be held Friday May 15, from 5 to 7 pm, at Roots on 175 Main Street, Oneonta.
The exhibition, World of Color #2, will run from May through July.
Alexander is a contemporary artist whose life-long fascination with color is evidenced by her work. Her often whimsical paintings are characteristically brightly hued. She works in watercolor and acrylic paints, and makes intricate cut-paper collages.
Her art has shown regionally in numerous solo and group exhibitions.
She lives with her husband, Larry Bennett, in East Meredith. She credits the serenity of the rolling hillsides surrounding her home with nurturing the creative process, as well as close ties to the Catskills’ flourishing artistic community.
Adriane Cej, an owner of Roots Brewery and Bistro, says “I have been following–and admiring– Christine’s work for a long time. One of her paintings has hung in my dining room for years. So it is a special pleasure to feature her art at Roots.”
Cej stresses Roots commitment to celebrating Oneonta’s cultural life. Art exhibits, story telling events, and the like, are welcome.
