Brewery Ommegang, known and revered for its annual Belgium Comes to Cooperstown beer, music and all things fun-fest, is putting a winter white-wash on its summer celebration with  the first annual Snommegang Invitational Beer Festival. The aptly named ‘Snommegang’ will be held in the City of the Hills on Saturday March 1 from 2-6PM on Main Street in Oneonta.

UnknownSnommegang will feature live music, food vendors, and much more, all free and open to the public. The festival will also feature a tasting tent with more than 20 national and international breweries pouring samples for guests ages 21 and up. Tickets for the tasting are $50 and available online at or in person at the Brewery Ommegang store, the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce in Cooperstown, and the Green Toad Bookstore in Oneonta. Students with a valid college ID (over 21 years of age) who purchase their tickets in person will receive $10 off admission to the tasting event.

“If there was ever a year to debut a fun and engaging winter experience in Oneonta, it’s this year,” said Bill Wetmore, Marketing Director for Brewery Ommegang. “This winter has just been so brutal with record cold spells and our fair share of Upstate snowfall. This should be a lot of fun for people who might have been getting a bit stir-crazy.”

Breweries pouring in the tasting tent include Ommegang and the Duvel family of breweries plus Bells, Brooklyn Brewery, Good Nature Brewing, Goose Island, Ithaca, Keegan Ales, Lagunitas, Peekskill, Shipyard Brewery, Stone and many more. Musical guests include Birdseed Bandits, Horseshoe Lounge Playboys, and Waylon Speed.

From 12-2PM at the Green Toad Bookstore beer expert and author Ben Keene, will be signing copies of his new book The Great Northeast Brewery Tour which features Ommegang and other local breweries.  Keene is a frequent contributor to DRAFT, All About Beer, and Beer Connoisseur magazines and he’s a member of the North American Guild of Beer Writers. The Great Northeast Brewery Tour is a full-color guide to more than 60 of the best breweries in the Northeast.
