Empire Brewing Company is proud to announce their latest local collaboration! As innovative as they are delicious, Glazed and Confused donut shop has drawn the attention of Syracuse’s sweet tooth as well as the folks over at Empire Brewing Company. Empire’s director of brewing operations, Tim Butler, and Paul Valenti, creator of Glazed and Confused, met recently to discuss a ‘small-batch-to-order donut beer’.
The pair settled on Glazed and Confused’s popular Cereal Killer donut for brewing inspiration. For anyone who isn’t already familiar, the Cereal Killer is a vanilla cake donut dipped in honey glaze and finished off with a generous coating of Fruity Pebbles cereal. Matt Ducey, head brewer at Empire Brewing Company’s downtown location, will be crafting ‘Bedrock Wit It’ on their 7 BBL brewpub system. A standard Wit beer, this medium bodied and lightly hopped brew will feature a few creative additions. Three dozen Cereal Killer donuts and 30 lbs of Fruity Pebbles will be added to the mash, evoking Glazed and Confused’s trademark flavor. Bedrock Ale is going into tank today, so look for it on draft at both Empire locations in just 3 weeks. This summer seasonal will be rolling out at about a 5% ABV.
