Justin Forsythe and Scott Veltman follow the Brewery Ommegang mantra of “Everything for a reason.”
Their pasts in home-brewing have paved the way to crafting centuries-old styles for one of America’s premier producers of Belgian-inspired ales.
Ommegang was established in 1997 on a former hop farm just outside of Cooperstown, N.Y. – the first farm site brewery founded in the U.S. in more than a century.
Nearby aquifers supply the brewery with one of Central New York’s best water sources. Carefully selected hops and grain create world-class beers.
The brewers here will tell you a key ingredient is the vast variety of spices employed in these traditional recipes: grains of paradise, ginger, star anise, cumin, coriander and orange peel among them.
Brewery Ommegang beers are distributed coast to coast and a favorite among craft brew fans. The brewers take great pride when they see people enjoying their handiwork at festivals, beer dinners and bars across the country.
Daily tours and tastings complement a slate of concerts and an on-site café specializing in Belgian fare.
